In search of peace and respite, the young, passionate Werther travels to a remote German village of unspoiled beauty. There he becomes enchanted by simple rural life, grows attached to the locals, and soon becomes part of their small community. He meets the beautiful and devoted Charlotte, who has devoted herself to caring for her younger siblings after their mother's death.
